How to get to us
Salutations! You are welcome!
Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic church is situated in the centre of Amanzimtoti, about 30km South of Durban on the East coast of
South Africa. The church’s foundation stone was laid in 1973 and since then the parish has grown as the population has increased in
Amanzimtoti.
The Franciscan Order is currently serving the parish. We have two full-time parish priests: Fr Patrick Noonan OFM and Fr Anthony
Spencer OFM, and we are also privileged to have in residence a retired franciscan, Fr Clement Fisher OFM and a retreat priest Fr
Christopher Neville OFM.
Our parish is an active parish. The St Vincent de Paul, Catholic Womens' League, Faith Formation & Growth (catechism and adult
formation), and the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO). Other societies too are alive and well. Also a vibrant guitar group which leads the music at morning Mass on
the first and third Sundays of the month. We have a Taizé singing group and of course a choir. There, finally, are faith-sharing (cell) groups,
home prayer groups, as well as a care group which visits the sick and disabled.
Parishioners are welcome and, indeed, encouraged to participate as fully as possible in the life of the parish.
